2022 NFL Weekly Pick Em Contest

Hope you all are ready for another year of the weekly NFL Pick Ems! We'll be working over the summer to start adding to prizes this year. I'm hoping we can offer 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place finishers something this year. Check back in this thread in the coming months for rules and the updated scoreboard. There will be a few tweaks this year based on what we learned from 2021.

What is Pick Em?
Participating forum members each week pick who they think will win each NFL game.


What are the rules?

1. Each participant must pick a winner for each game. Invalid choices disqualify that specific game. Picks are straight up and not based on the point spread.
2. Each participant must post on the weekly contest thread by kickoff of the games they are picking. Any picks posted after kickoff are disqualified.
3. Participants may NOT edit their own post. If a participant makes a mistake or would like to make changes, make a new post but it must be submitted in accordance to rules 1 and 2.
4. Each correct pick scores 1 point. Each incorrect* pick scores 0 points.
5. Participants may optionally select one long-shot pick. A long-shot pick is picking an underdog to win a game. The underdog must be down a minimum of 4.5 points on the point spread when posted on the weekly thread and the underdog must WIN the game, not merely cover the spread. A long-shot pick is worth 3 points if you pick correctly, but worth -1 point if you pick incorrectly. You must designate the pick as LONGSHOT next to the team name to qualify. Picking multiple longshots will disqualify all longshot picks as longshots but will still be counted as a regular pick in accordance to rule 1 and 4.
6. There will be no automatic bye this year. If you forget to make your picks for the entire week, you will score 0 points. This is no different than forgetting to set your fantasy football line-up each week.
7. Tie breakers. If any of the prize winners are tied, playoff contests will be used to help break the ties. See Tie breaker scenarios below for more details.

What's that long-shot option again?
Below are three examples again with point spreads. Dallas, San Fran, LA, and Baltimore are the underdogs in this example.

Dallas at Buffalo -3
LA Chargers at San Francisco -5
NY Giants -2.5 at Baltimore

Only the Chargers would qualify for a long-shot pick as the point spread against them is -5. Below is an example of picking a long-shot. A participant does not need to specifically call out long-shot to pick an underdog team. A long-shot pick is worth 3 points if correct but -1 points if incorrect. Remember you may only pick one long-shot per week.

This is all fun and games, but what are the prizes?
Glad you asked! We plan to have weekly prizes. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes include:

1x blaster box of 2021 Panini NFL Chronicles /w Prestige exclusives
1x blaster box of 2022 Sage High Series /w 3 guaranteed autographs
1x hobby box of 2015 Upper Deck CFL Football

I'm thinking for this year the winner can pick their prize, 2nd place picks there's, and 3rd place gets the remaining item. If we are able to add more items to the prize pool, we'll do it like grand prize winner gets 1st pick, 2nd place gets 2nd pick, 3rd place gets 3rd pick, grand prize winner gets 4th pick, 2nd place gets 5th pick, 3rd place gets 6th pick, etc.

Weekly prizes are based on participation. The weekly winner will earn 100 SCF Reward Points. If at least 20 people participate, the winner earns 200 RPs. If at least 30 people participate, the winner earns 300 RPs, etc. People who tie for the most split the prize pool but it splits no more than once (for example, if 20 people participate and there's 1 high score, that person gets 200 points. If 2 people tie, each person gets 100 points. If 4 people tie, each person gets 100 points, etc)

1st Place - BigBenJobu with 172 total points, including high scores week 2 and 15. He gets to pick first from the Sealed Box Pool and gets first pick in the upcoming 2022 Luminance division box break hosted by Don and sponsored by SCI!

2nd Place - CJS-Sportscards with 168 points and a high score week 4. He gets second pick from the Sealed Box Pool and 2nd pick in the Luminance break.

3rd Place - a 167-point three-way tie between CMCFan22 (4 weekly high scores), key2win (1 weekly high score), and MichiganDan (3 straight weekly high scores). You all get the honor to duke it out for the last spot in the Sealed Box Pool and for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th spot in the Luminance box break.

3rd Place - Key2Win scored 167 points in the regular season (1 weekly high score) and 8 points in the playoffs to secure the 3rd pick in the Luminance box break and the final pick of the Sealed Box Pool.

4th Place - CMCFan22 scored 167 points in the regular season (4 weekly high scores) and 7 points in the playoffs to claim the 4th pick in the Luminance box break.

5th Place - MichiganDan scored 167 points in the regular season (and 3 straight high scores) with 4 points in the playoffs to grab the 5th pick.

6th Place - AtlantaMan scored 166-points with high scores week 6 and 7. He gets the 6th pick in the 2022 Luminance box break.

7th Place - Davz13 scored 165 with a week 9 high score and secured the 7th pick in the 2022 Luminance box break.

8th Place - a two-way tie of 161 points between pwaldo (week 3 high score) and rjabreu88 (weeks 8, and 18) in a win-and-in scenario for the 8th and final spot in the 2022 Luminance box break. Whoever loses this tie-breaker PM me and I'll send out a small care package of your favorite team as a consolation prize.

8th Place - pwaldo accumulated 161 points (week 3 high score) scored 7 points in his tie-breaker match to hang on to the final pick in the 2022 Luminance box break and will get the division no one else selects.

rjabreu88, sorry you missed out on the break but PM me your favorite football team and I'll send you out a consolidation prize.

Thanks all, really looking forward to September 8th and the start of a new season! I haven't come up with the exact wording yet but for the tie-breakers it'll be some sort of playoff tie breaker between whoever is tied. For example if Don and CLK are tied for 2nd place, then we setup some sort of playoff pick em along with a guess the combined points scored of all playoff NFL teams. If they both happen to pick the exact same teams to win, then it'll fall to the person who picked (over or under) the closest in points scored. No "The Price is Right" rules here. If Don picks 250 points scored and CLK picks 280 points scored and the playoff teams combine for 275, then CLK gets 2nd place and Don 3rd.

Something like that, I want to come up with better wording and examples.
