Start up assistance (photo editing program, tutorial etc...)

Hey everyone I'm looking to get into making my own custom cards/photos. What photo editing programs are best and are there any good videos out there on how to do them. I'm not exactly the best when it comes to computers and technology but would love to start it up as a hobby.

I would look who is actively making customs and send them a pm or tag them in one of their threads when they update their threads. Probably will get a better result than just making a random post that can easily be missed.
