2020-21 SP Authentic Hockey Hobby Box Break Preview | WHAT TO LOOK FOR! (2022)
Apparently 2020-21 SP Authentic is finally out on June 29, 2022. I know, I know. What a MIRACLE. Talk about tardy! So, I take the time to do a proper preview of what to expect.
And yes, yes this may be "the" flagship Upper Deck hockey product, as Future Watch rookies are promoted by retailers, group breakers, and online expert collectors, including your friendly neighborhood #Zeeree. But - ugh - this year's sticker price is shocking to me. I can only imagine what it will be in a couple of years when Connor Bedard (a lock, to my mind) joins the SPA fray.
Although, if the broader economy goes into a recession, we will again have some huge bargains. After every parabolic move upward there is always a correction. Unfortunately, knowing this is completely unhelpful, as we can never predict the timing of major moves, whether up or down. We just know that technically they occur.
By the way, if you are in Montreal and like base cards I have two big shoeboxes full of base from various sets going back to the early 2000s to give you. Contact me ASAP if you want them. Local pickup only.SUBSCRIBE to Fultoncards on YouTube for FREE hockey cards. I am a consumer advocate focused on pack odds, and the history of our hobby. I do box breaks, recaps and reviews of affordable and vintage cards.

For me, SPA will probably mean my annual SP retail blaster box. Fun and affordable, and I love the rookies /1199. I might look for a Alex Belzile FWA after that the initial hype goes down.

Ya, it's nice they have an SP retail option. Every year I do a box break of retail with only music and no narration. I once hit a Crosby jersey in that product, but gave it away.

I pulled a Price jersey and a Kotkaniemi rc, pretty good for an Habs fan! :)
