Advice on Selling an Extremely High End Card

Hi all,

I use to be a regular poster, but have left the business / hobby years ago due to family life. Some might remember me running box breaks way back in the day and actually I was an SCF sponsor for a while.

I have a unique problem I think & was hoping for some advice. I have an ungraded, 15-16 Connor McDavid Cup Auto Rookie Patch RC #08/99 and am interested in potentially moving it over the next year. Not in a rush, but feel like the time is right. What is the best way to do this? I know I should get it graded (most likely a BGS 9), but don't have the guts to send it away. I do have a link to a video of it getting pulled and my username being stated on camera to help validate.

Graded or not, I don't think I trust selling it on eBay, so what other options are out there?

I watch his youtube videos and he seems legit. You can contact him, tell him your situation and he'll do all the work selling the card.

He'll probably charge you a commission fee after you sell the card. Either that or he will buy the card off of you outright.

Seems like he specializes in people who own high end cards but don't know how to sell them

If you have a local card shop, I would start there. Face to face dealing with no shipping involved. May get a little less, but typically a lot less headaches. Or if you are near one of the big card shows, that would also be a good place to move it.

There's options, you may want to bite the bullet and get the card graded - check your options between BGS & PSA. You can always go the consignment route, a lot of guys are doing that for the very high end stuff. You may lose a cut but the sales do get a bump when it's a reputable seller, so it offsets. Check around for your potential avenues, be it a consignor or even through your local card shop or one of the other bigger stores in town.

This is what I was going to say. Use a consignor if you don't want to do it yourself. The cut you have to give them is probably worth it, for peace of mind.

There are eBay consignment places that basically deal in cards 100%. There are also card specific auction houses. The problem is I don't know if these places/people deal with Canada. I think they are USA only.
