Suffice to say, every Habs fan is having a rough morning with this news. A real shame. He had a legit shot at being the first Canadiens player to hit 50 goals since Stephane Richer.

Definitely not great for a young player. One would hope he heals up, and recovers fully. Physically, and mentally!.

All the "speculators" on the facebook groups are already chiming in that his card values will drop by at least 50%. I think some of them are hopeful that happens so that they can scoop them up, and resale them when he comes back, and tears it up.

I'm assuming that these "speculators" will be the very same ones who will be willing to pick up Caufield cards, even if he won't be the "same player" moving forward.

Anybody with a grain of sense would ignore these clowns. The kid is 22 years old. He has been playing with this injury all season long and has still managed to score 26 goals. The team and Caufield finally decided that there was no reason to further put off the surgery. He'll be fine.

I can't speak for Facebook but traders on ePack continue to spam the boards for Caufield YGs as we speak, so clearly there is still a demand for his cards.

If anyone reading this thread no longer wants their Caufield cards please trade them to me.

All the injuries mean an opportunity for all the prospects from Laval. Half their farm team was on the ice last night and they looked pretty good.

The want list at this link features what I need of Gretzky, Roy, Ottawa Senators, and Miscellaneous sets. I also have a CFL want list on my page and if you have nothing from it I will consider other traders of current Ottawa Senators, Carey Price, Guy Lafleur, vintage hockey (pre 1970) and trade bait such as McDavid.

I hope that won't turn like Koivu. He was among the best scorers when he got hurted to its knee early in its career and never was the same after.

I still have 7 UD1 21-22 retail boxes on my shelf to open, in hopes of getting a Caufield. At least, if there's no Caufield rookie in them, until next fall, I'll have a nice window of opportunity to buy one cheaper.

Maybe Montreal should have had him take a 2 or 3 weeks off and they might have him for the full season, I think Mtl mis-handled this situation, much like in Vanc.

He's not 37 years old, i wouldn't think he would need the time off.

I heard Carbonneau had the same kind of surgery too, and that it made its shoulder stronger than natural.
