Steph Curry trying to block housing for the poor near his million dollar home because of "safety"
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/art...near-home.html
NBA star Steph Curry issued an official opposition to the development of a row of affordable housing units that are slated to be build behind his multi-million dollar mansion.
The Golden State Warriors star and his wife, Ayesha, sent a letter to the town of Atherton opposing the project, which would see up to 16 three-story townhouses spring up in the middle of his uber-wealthy California neighborhood.
The Currys said the housing project would pose as a threat to 'safety and privacy' of them and their kids, nothing that the location and height of the townhouses residents leering views into their $31million mansion.
Their neighbors have also spoken out against the project, with some saying building affordable-minded homes in a town where single acres go for $8million made no sense.
'As Atherton residents... we have been following along with the housing element updates with special interest in the 23 Oakwood property,' they wrote.
'We hesitate to add to the 'not in our backyard' (literally) rhetoric, but we wanted to send a note before today's meeting. Safety and privacy for us and our kids continues to be our top priority and one of the biggest reasons we chose Atherton as home.'
In their letter, the Currys supported the housing program, but asked that Atherton build the units elsewhere.
lol

This is one of those things in which folks will promote that other folks should allow projects like this to go forward in their neighborhood. Of course when it comes to those same places being placed in their neighborhood they balk. So, basically he saying put them somewhere else so someone else can worry about their safety so I do not have to worry about mine. I have a low income housing project going in my neighborhood and folks are complaining so I understand many folks do not want them coming into their neighborhood. I wonder if it is truly a safety aspect or perhaps more about how much his mansion (value) would go down. Should be interesting to see how this story develops.
Thanks for sharing.
