As long as youre able to show your expenses ( box breaks / single purchases / supplies / shipping ) and you dont "make money" you dont have to pay taxes on your sales.
I sold over $20K last year ..... crazy low as I too have started to use ebay a lot less ..... but easily showed in my expense that I spent more in the hobby. Of course, you dont have to show your in person sales, where most of my business has gone

In America we just had July 4th so a lot of people were and are on vacation or at least spending more time outside. Don't know what people are doing in Canada other than not putting out forest fires.

The summer months generally see a bit of a decline in activity for anything hockey-related. After the initial flurry of the free agent frenzy, it's a bit of downtime.
Upper Deck is still pumping out the products in the hope they'll eventually get caught up, but I have noticed generally that the amount of product being broken from Platinum & Ice seems to be down. The excessive delay in Platinum, coupled with the doubling in price and overhaul of the product configuration, and then the volume of QC issues, I think really cooled a lot of people.
And for the members....it's summertime, got to get out and enjoy some special time with family, friends, etc.
That said, I did spend a bit of time yesterday at the LCS as they had an autograph signing with David Ayres.

Once we get closer to hockey season, especially with the certain insane Bedard hype that's going to come with it, expect activity levels to rise once again.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

The Bedard hype will be awesome to see in the card market. Those types of players always give the hobby a boost and it's always fun to ride that wave - even from a comfortable distance collecting an entirely different sector of the hobby.
Anything that's good for the hobby is good in my books.

I was in vacations. I'm back home and have some extra time to put in cards, but I'll be mostly back in September.
