George Brett Game Used Bat? Spring Training 1980
Howdy everyone! My mom has long held out that she possesses a George Brett game used bat from Spring Training in 1980 Florida. Story is she, being a massive Kansas City Royals fan at the time had a college roommate go down to Florida for Spring Break and went to a Royals Spring Training game and came back with a George Brett broken bat. Said it was given to her after George cracked it..
It looks pretty dang legit and the story makes sense. Royals were in Florida at that time and her roommate wasn’t one to pull a fast one.. there doesn’t seem much incentive to give her a fake GB bat.
Did some game used bat research and the ‘GB 5’ on the base looks to be common amongst authenticated versions. The bat itself with George Brett on the barrel also looks common. Any opinions from you guys?? Maybe you have seen others or recognize the famous GB pine tar amount! Have thought about getting it authenticated but still am of the opinion that is just a 99% opinion. The 1% would always bug me.. Hoping to get a signing opportunity in the future where we can ask him ourselves!!
Thanks everyone!
Kyle

Looks legit to me too. I have a game used bat from Dave Nelson when he played with Brett.
