24/25 Tim Hortons hockey card question

Does each pack still contain 3 cards..2 base and 1 insert

Is the price per pack the same as last year or did they up it again.

    Thanks

Beckett has it listed as three cards per pack. They have the checklist the same as canadianhockeycards, but they do have the auto and memorabilia lists, although they look a little light and could be partials.

2024-25 Upper Deck Tim Hortons Hockey Checklist, Teams, Odds (beckett.com)

They also have the downloadable spreadsheet on the page as well:

    https://beckett-www.s3.amazonaws.com...ecklist-2.xlsx

I'm only interested in two cards in the set so I won't be buying a ton, so if you hit 'em, I'll trade for them:
    Base #80 Alex Newhook
Timbits to NHL 2008 Dawson Mercer

After that maybe a few of the Leafs. I'm not impressed it it still the same basic set design, I had hoped they ould have taken another chance like they did with the Duos set, or maybe go to a full cardboard & retro style set, but it is what it is. The price is going to be the big thing.

Thanks for that added checklist info @mikecole141 - I might have to shell out the $$$ for a Xhekaj auto and/or the Caufield jersey. The Franchise Trios will be a must-add!

So looking at the checklist some things jump out:

    For base cards:
    • The Sharks only have two base cards
    • 14 teams have three base
    • 10 have 4 base
    • 7 teams have 5 base, including Edmonton, Montreal, The Rangers, Ottawa, Vancouver, and Winnipeg.
    • The Leafs are the only team that have 6 base, but one of them is Tim Horton himself

Even as a Leafs fan I think Tim's should throw a Horton Buffalo Sabres' base card out there at least once, or even a Rangers or Penguins card. Mostly Buffalo because of the ties to the restaurant chain.

Calgary getting the shaft with three base cards was surprising.

There are 120 base where possibly cards 101-120 are short printed, the question is whether they will be one of the two base cards once every three packs, or a hit replacement in one every three packs.

Calgary only has three base cards in the set, one insert and one memorabilia card. The Flames have the same number of cards in the set as Arizona, Philadelphia, and the Caps.
San Jose only has three cards, and one of those is the Draft card 1:12000 packs.
The Islanders only have 4 cards in the set.

The Franchise Trios have 6 cards in the set. Boston is the only US Team, the rest are Canadian clubs, Calgary and Winnipeg don't have one.

The Penguins have the most cards in the total set with 20 cards, but 15 of them are Crosby Cards.
The Leafs have the next highest amount with 15 cards
    Montreal has 13
    Vancouver 12
Edmonton & Ottawa have 11 cards
And five teams have 10 cards with the Bruins, Avs, Stars, Devils, and Lightning. 44% of the individual cards, not total.

18 Jersey cards, no team has more than one. The Oilers and Canucks are the only Canadian teams that don't have a Jersey card. But the Oilers' McDavid has an Auto/Jersey card.
23 Auto or Auto/Jersey Cards, The Leafs and Flames are the only Canadian teams with no Auto.
Between Autos, Auto/Jersey, and Superstar Signatures the only teams with two autos are the Stars with a Hintz Auto 1:7200 packs, and Oettinger Auto/Jersey 1:86,598 packs, and the Penguins with a Tristan Jarry auto 1:7200 packs and the Crosby Superstars Signature 1:149,306 packs.

Doesn't look like any of the sets are the Canvas type that has been in a bunch of previous sets.

    Also...

Thanks for that added checklist info @mikecole141 - I might have to shell out the $$$ for a Xhekaj auto and/or the Caufield jersey. The Franchise Trios will be a must-add!

@RGM81 I don't know why you would fork out money for an auto that is going to be nothing more but the mashed remains of the crayon he was eating at the time. Maybe it will be the red or blue one.

Here is the breakdown by team of Base, Insert, and Auto/GU.

    Teams Base Inserts Auto/GU Total
    Anaheim 3 4 2 9
    Arizona 3 2 5
    Boston 3 6 1 10
    Buffalo 4 3 2 9
    Calgary 3 1 1 5
    Carolina 3 2 2 7
    Chicago 4 4 1 9
    Colorado 3 5 2 10
    Columbus 3 2 1 6
    Dallas 4 3 3 10
    Detroit 4 3 1 8
    Edmonton 5 5 1 11
    Florida 4 4 8
    Los Angeles 4 3 1 8
    Minnesota 3 2 1 6
    Montreal 5 6 2 13
    Nashville 3 2 1 6
    New Jersey 4 4 2 10
    NY Islanders 3 1 4
    NY Rangers 5 2 2 9
    Ottawa 5 4 2 11
    Philadelphia 3 2 5
    Pittsburgh 4 14 2 20

    Tampa Bay 4 4 2 10
    Toronto 6 8 1 15

@mikecole141 I hope it's red for some variety in the PC.

I've seen a couple live cards on the eBay and some of these subsets look real sharp this year. I like that they raised their game for the 10th anniversary. Hard to believe it's been that long already.

From what I have seen, there is little to nothing new. It is all a rehash of previous sets. Same metallic embossed base set, with mostly duplicated insert sets and a rehash of the lenticular cards. IMHO the only thing they did different was increase the base set to 120 cards and that was more likely to increase the number of packs.

Of course as I say the above I also know that there isn't much reason for Tim Hortons or Upper Deck to make changes, the cards still sell, they have no reason to try something new. Fortunately I, literally, only have two cards to chase, so I don't have to be too disappointed.

Was able to talk to my guy locally today -- $1.99 each or $1.50 with a beverage (up from $1 previously).

Also, select locations will be hosting trade nights in November. Check with your local stores to find out where....as both @mikecole141 and I can attest, they have prizes!

I figured that is what the prices would be. Not surprising, still disappointing.

@RGM81 isn’t exaggerating when it comes to trade nights. If a local Timmies is having one, go. A chance to do in person trades, the chance to pick up a few more packs, and the chance to win some great prizes. I won this one in 2018. So don’t miss out if there is one close by.
