    Gold Bar

I’m new to this folks. Have a Topps NBA 1996-97 gold bar complete set. Unopened. Understand there is a Kobe rookie and something about a possible George Mikan reprint with actual autograph, Does anyone know anything about this? Does it make more sense to leave unopened or open and see what I have?

I would open the set to see what autograph you get. I believe the set came with shrink wrap on it so that has already been taken off. What are you wanting to do with the cards?

The players with autographs appear to be George Mikan, Bill Walton, Rick Barry, George Gervin, Elvin Hayes, Walt Frazier, Tiny Archibald, Willis Reed, Earl Monroe, and Sam Jones.

As for what to do with the set the question would be what are you going to do with the set? If you are selling unless you are lucky with the set it would be better to sell it sealed and get the premium price. If you are going to save it for the future I don't really see the point in opening it unless you are hoping to pull one of these autograph cards. Otherwise it is just a Topps set.

I would just do a search on ebay and see what they are going for. You might want to look at what a KOBE rookie graded goes for versus the set. As It might make sense to get it graded and hope for a high grade which would probably make the profit much more than selling the set raw. Just a thought need to look at the data and make a informed decision.
