Help on value of rare and expensive basketball rookie card

Okay I am going with it being a rookie card because I can't find one earlier than it. I guess since he is a coach it would be first card or earliest card instead? Maybe coaches still have rookie cards?

Anyway it is a 1992-93 University of Connecticut Huskies Women's Team Issue Geno Auriemma.

Nobody lists this in a checklist anywhere as I figured everyone just took Beckett's word as they only have 1993-94 UCONN and newer for him. There is a 1993-94 issue on COMC that is listed for $200+. That one has a dented corner. The one I have is about as mint you are going to get from a card from a perforated sheet that was handed out at a basketball game in 1992/93.

So what I'm asking for is does anybody have any sales of this card on that eBay app that has sales that go back years? And if it is actually rare and valuable or maybe is there an older Geno Auriemma issue that would be considered his "rookie card". Thanks for any help.

What did you find to do any comparisons. I found quite a few of the mens basketball card that sold. As I seen Jim Calhoun was the coach during 92/93 in the same set and it was a whole set basically uncut sold cheaply. Granted Geno a stud and sells better. Found another card of Geno three years later that sold but neither broke 20 dollars. Not sure if you found anything so just trying to give you some solid concrete data to help get a idea. If you need the links to the sales lmk.

I didn't really find much about it so that's why I asked. Probably not many people that are too well versed in college or woman's basketball compared to the NBA but I still haven't found a checklist for Geno Auriemma anywhere. Probably need to find a super collector or something.

From the set on eBay I've seen a couple of the female commons go for $15-$20. That's really the only sales data I've seen for 1992-93 release. COMC is really lacking the woman's set. It is really rare for a card from the early 90s to have never appeared on COMC.com. I mean all the years that site has existed and one never appeared? Not saying this is valuable because of that but you just don't see it every day.

The only reason I was even entertaining the fact this might be a pricey card is somebody has a later version that is damaged for $200. Yeah he could have just listed it for a stupid amount for some reason but that's why I wanted to see if maybe somebody could find a sale in terapeak or whatever it is called. There probably isn't too much demand for the card but I'm in the area of the country that it will move.

Also while Geno and Jim Calhoun are kinda similar if you aren't from the region it would be like comparing the Lakers and the Clippers. Yeah they are both from LA but one is clearly more popular than the other. People worship Geno for some reason while people barely remember Jim Calhoun anymore.

I think what I am trying to do at this point would be to find out what year was Geno's rookie card / first year card. For Jim Calhoun it looks to be 1990 for what I can find. But I was surprised to find out that Geno started coaching all the way back in 1985 so maybe a 1992 card was his first issue but maybe it wasn't. I still find it a bit weird that COMC doesn't even have a UCONN women's card from before that year that I can find it looks to be just one guy who uploaded the 1993-94 set that's there now for an unrealistically high price.

I know woman's college basketball wasn't really popular in the early 90s and that stadium giveaways probably didn't go to many people so many weren't made or saved but I'm still baffled by how little information is out there about something so recent. I'm just guessing it was a stadium give away since I've acquired much later UCONN sets that were in team sets that were acquired that way. Those are tough to find now but uncut sheets are an even more brutal way of distributing free promo cards to fans to have them stand up to the test of time in good condition.

Looks like a bunch of people are clueless because here is a 1993 UCONN PSA 5 advertised as a "true rookie card".

$1000 though it is autographed....He also correctly points out you can't find any cards from the 1993 UCONN set on eBay. Mine is from the 1992 one and I can't even find any information on it.

Looks like the damaged 93-94 card sold for $229.18 on eBay:

If that is true any guesses on what a mint 92-93 would go for?

Do not say mint unless you grade it. If you get it slabbed then put it up on ebay and let it ride. Enjoy your dollars you made on a sweet card and spend it on something that means more to you in the hobby for your pc. Of course you get to deal with ebay and all the problems that happen there LOL. Lord I can only imagine the nightmare of a ebay seller or buyer from time to time. I know I have had some as a seller over the years.
