Serial Number Question
When buying serial numbered cards, what do you guys prefer...001/199, 199/199 or jersey number/199? I know some people don't care, but play along.

If the player has a recognizable number that they've never changed over the years I would go with #D to jersey number. But if they have had multiple jersey numbers over the years I'd rather have the 001/199

Generally doesn't matter, first vs last print is no big deal.
But if I can get their jersey number, Forsberg 21/###, I would pay a small premium. But again, not a huge deal - I only have 26 Forsberg cards that are number 21 of ##.

Jersey Number 100%. And to top that off the ultimate goal is a card numbered AND limited to the jersey. Like a McDavid 97/97.
I was very proud of my Gustav Nyquist 14/14 for Panini Titanium as I thought he was a great player and Detroit would continue their Dynasty but... nope, this is a serious playoff drought and getting worrisome so players like Nyquist really dropped off.
Other than that, playing along with the OP, I do have an affinity for the very first print. Don't care at all for the last. If anything I think the quality would get more sloppy toward the end lol
Like the older sets on Donruss Press Proof would be the first 2000 printed and then the rest are just... the rest of the base that are printed.Master List: Hidden Content

I will pay a premium for Jersey number, but don't really pay much attention other than that.

Funny you bring this up - I just got a Josh Gorges SPx RC #26/1999. His San Jose number of course was #6 but he's best known for his time with the Habs when he rocked the 26.
I like to get them where I can. First/last of a print run don't really mean a whole lot to me.
Habs fan and collector! Current PC's: Nick Suzuki, Cole Caufield, and Lane Hutson...., and of course...

I collect Jersey Numbered cards for my player collection. Keeps things fresh and fun.
I've linked them below:
You can view all of my Jersey Numbered cards Here
I have also collect the last serial number on a few cards, only with a high enough print run though, because I think it's pretty fun as well.

I prefer sweater number over first or last, I did chase sweater numbered cards for my Schenn collection, but I don't go out of my way to chase them for other players in my collection.
Interesting thing on the non-sports side, first or last numbered, or the alpha and omega respectively are chased by quite a few collectors and do command a premium.
