    Hot Singles in Your Area!

With all the hype surrounding The National this weekend (and UD has had some really cool time-sensitive drops - follow their FB for the latest, especially if you're going) it got me curious to look and it turns out there is a card show here in Kelowna next weekend! Very exciting. For those who may not know the origin story for me, it all started one February morning in Halifax when in an effort to get out of the cold, Mrs. RGM81 and I popped into a card show. I bought a Carey Price OPC RC for $5. You could say things escalated quickly from there.

Anyone attending The National this weekend, or have any recent/upcoming card shows in their area?

What's your best pickup from a show?

Wasn't attending the National this past weekend, and no plans to ever. I did miss an opportunity yesterday. As part of Alex Newhook's Golf Tournament which was today, they held a 'FanFest' yesterday which I only became aware of after watching last night's local news. The FanFest I have come to find out is run each year and tickets are done by draw, so I will be signing up for next year. would have been nice to go this year, even with all the Habs players and fans, to score local IP autos for Mercer, Greene, and Abby and Alex Newhook. But I can try for next year.

1982-83 O-Pee-Chee was my first cards, but I never saw a card show in Labrador City until the craze started in 1990-91. I don't remember the first card I bought at a card show, but at some point in 1992 I bought a Dave Keon Rookie Card in fairly rough condition, but I now had one.

My best show pickup for an individual card was a trade I made at a Bossa card show in Calgary. I traded an ITG Made To Order My Hero and Me for the 2009-10 The Cup Luke Schenn Base Parallel Patch Auto 1 of 1.

My best show pickup all time was probably a box of 2006-07 SP Authentic for $209.00 in the fall of 2007 at a local show in Edmonton. Last pack had a Sidney Crosby FWA. Man, I wish I still had that card.

@mikecole141 Now that would be a fun time. I've seen a couple posts about Newy's tournament in the feed (obviously the algorithm knows what I want) and seems like a great time. Having run a couple golf tournaments over the years and done events with hockey players, pretty good fit. Maybe I should get into that aspect of the event planning business. LOL

Hopefully next year he can bring The Cup with him.

If Montréal's hockey media gets their way, and go back to trying to run Newhook out of town again like the last few years, I could see Newhook winning the cup with whatever team he ends up with.
