    Post John Stockton Retires

I didn't see anything about this anywhere on the boards so I'll post it.

It just amazes me that even with his age he was STILL one of the best point guards in the league.

He not only holds the all time assist record but also the steals record.

Its going to be weird watching an NBA season and not seeing MJ or hearing Stockton to Malone.

What a great player! It's good to see he didn't try to extend his career too long like other guys have.

He doesn't go out with a "bang", and he was a class act. What more can you ask for in a retiring athlete?

We just talked about whether or not Jim Rice deserves to be in the Hall because Rice had comparable stats, but didn't have anything that shouted out "hall of fame!!"

Well, Stockton is DEFINITELY a Hall-of-Famer.

#1 in assists, 5000 more than the next person, teammate Mark Jackson
#1 in steals, 700 than Michael Jordan

Plus, in 19 years of play, he played in all 82 games in 17 of those years!!!!

Plus, he was a friendly, nice quiet fellow off the courts.

1st ballot Hall of Fame in 5 years from now.

There's nothing wrong with Malone hanging on to try to get that record. He paid his dues, playing 18-19 years, almost all of them the full season.

If Grant Hill can sit on his fat Duke ™™™ and collect $100M contract, then Malone deserves to hang on until he decides to quit.

Just remember, Ricky Henderson wanted to play this year!, Why? He has nothing to prove, except to remain the biggest jackass in baseball.

Congrads to a great career, The NBA will definetly miss one of the classiest players in history.

yep rickey was reported that he is playing in some independent league, I think the dude just likes to play baseball, we just build a new stadium in my hometown, I wish he would have played for us, and yeah even though he is an ™™™™™, I still would have enjoyed watching him play.
