And so it begins: the great experiment

there are many questions this year
    they include

obviously, im talking about the lakers. The big four of payton, malone, shaq, and kobe will be on the floor together in the season opener less than 24 hours from now. Will it work? history varies. The celtics won with bird, walton, parish, and mchale; but the rockets never got out of the first round with barkley, olajuwan, drexler, and pippen. This Lakers have the talent to go 82-0, even in the west. But its a fat chance considering shaq and kobe can hardly adjust to playing with each other

Will Dallas fall victim to Portland syndrome? The have stocked their roster full of all-stars nash, finley, nowitki, jamison, and walker, and talented time deserving role players bradley, fortson, and there enough minutes and touches to go around? probably, but none the less somebody is bound to not be happy, especially once the rotation goes down to 7 come playoff time. This team is gonna fall apart.

Will Sacramento fall victim to Portland Trauma? After the historic comeback by the Lakers send Portland home in the 2000 Western Conference playoffs, the team was never the same dominace again. Though the Kings are very good, will this team win? or should they start rebuilding while they can as too many players will become free agents soon

should the Pacers and Nets switch into the Western Conference so that the east can serve as a minor league system? Once again, the west raided the east's all stars taking Brad Miller, Antoine Walker, and Latrell Sprewell, Gary Payton in return for Scott Pollard, Raef LaFrenz, Lamar Odom and Terrell Brandon
considering the Nets and Pacers are the only teams that would possibly contend from the entire conference, shouldnt the rest be scrapped?

#1: Lakers won't even break the Bulls 73-9 record. But, with a healthy Shaq..they will win the title, with or without Kobe, b/c of the weapons in Payton and Malone to go with Shaq

#2: the BIG problem with Dallas is that they do not play defense, and have a soft interior defense. In the playoffs, it's more of a half-court offense. So, the deficiencies Dallas has is magnified once playoffs roll around.
The problem with Portland is that they are smoking pot, driving drunk, and beating up women. Portland has a good enough offense and defense to go to the West Conference Finals, assuming they aren't in jail.

#3 - Sacramento's window of opportunity is closing fast; they had a few unlucky breaks and lost to the Lakers. Had they beaten the Lakers, they would have destroyed the Nets these past 2 years.
Now, with Webber hurt/in trouble with the law, and the other players like Divac getting older, the chances for them to win is now down to 2-3 years before they have to rebuild.

#4 - the East is a joke; and whoever wins the West (Lakers, Spurs, Kings, even the Timberwolves) will beat the East champion in the NBA Finals
