I think you are referring to my PM to Mike (not from sportscardcollector) about data integrity and normalizing the data. As I told him, you certainly can have this feature work the way you have it - it is just likely to have inconsistent naming conventions.

Beckett Marketplace used to allow people to enter items in whatever format they wanted, and it was messy but worked. They made the investment to assign marketplace items to their standard catalog of every card on their site (when they got the endeca search engine), it must have been a very ambitious task. That is the best thing possible, but probably not practical.

I have been building enterprise applications for a long time, and data integrity is a really important thing in most cases.

For the time being we will stick with what we got. The system will not be perfect, but it will be a great system for traders. I will work with folks like sportscollectors and others researching to make this better in the future.

I have added the missing fields. A bit of patience on the phase 2 part, we will have it in a few hours. After you have had a look at the new show page we are adding in this second phase, we will proceed to install the final bit.

just been screwing around with this new system....should i be able to do a search for what other members have uploaded? i see the search engine, but looks like that is for searching my own inventory (atleast thats all the results i get, lol....maybe im the only one with cards!!)....i know you guys are still working on this, so sorry if im just missing something or jumping the gun (read your other thread too mike, and im still not really sure what the "function" of this is....but its cool reguardless, lol)

That's exactly the purpose of phase 2 which we will be uploading in a few hours: to search and browse other people's inventories!

We had to rearrange things a bit, after we had to remove the Card Name field and we added a few more fields. So we added the fields and at the same time attempted to simplify things a bit. But you will see in a few hours.
