    Favorite Cards

    1. 2001-2002 Ultimate Collection Platinum #70 #d 19/25 - 2 Color Patch - White with Stitching/Green

Story: This was a white whale for this collection for a long time. I lost twice on ebay early on in 2003 and 2004 for well over 75 bucks each time. Finally, one night i was searching rb21.com and happened upon it. I could not email them fast enough to arrange payment for it. A short time later I had it in my hands. My white whale had been speared.

    2. 2001-2002 Topps Chrome Black Refractor #149 #d 17/50

Story: I have always been a refractor nut and I was able to add this early on to my collection in 2004. I have only seen one since and the person wanted 75 bucks for it. I nabbed this one for under 15.00.

    3. 2001-2002 Topps Chrome Lacing Up Game Used Shoe Lace #LU-JF #d 05/50, 42/50 - Black Shoe Lace (x2)

Story: Very unique game used card. I had added one at a decent cost in 2004 and managed to nab a second in 2006. Not often do you see game used shoe lace in any set.

    4. 2001-2002 Topps TCC First Step Sneakers #FS-JF - White and Black Shoe Swatches (x2)

Story: Personally one of my favorite type of game used card. I have two copies of this card, white and black. I have heard but not seen rumors of a green swatch. Hoping to add that one day.

    5. 2001 Sage Autographs Platinum #A13 #d 7/20, 11/20 - Blue Ink (x2)

Story: When I first started collecting Forte I went heavy after any of his rare cards, I remember sitting in an anthropology class my freshman year in college hoping I had won this card. I had placed a bid before class and waited patiently. It was a 2 1/2 class and during the 10 minute break we got, I ran to the computer in the student lounge and checked the auction, I had won this and was ecstatic. I overpaid big time as well as with the second copy but I enjoy both of them.

    6. 2001 Sage Hit Autographs Rare Cut #A21 #d 52/100, 70/100 - Blue Ink (x2)

Story: I had the hardest time nailing this auto down until around 2005-06 when one popped up on the now defunct bidville.com. Nabbed it for 5 shipped. I added one more for good measure later on.

    7. 2001-2002 SPx Spectrum #123 #d 11/25

Story: This was the first truly rare Forte I managed to acquire in 2003. I paid a bit under 15 bucks for it and I have yet to see another copy since 2003. Glad I paid for it :)

    8. 2001-2002 Topps MVP Promotion #NNO

Story: This was a mini whale and they are nearly impossible to find for almost any player from all the sets. I was looking around sportlots last year, early part of the year and bam, there it was. Quickly purchased it and was one step closer to all his rookies.

    9. 2001-02 Fleer Showcase Masterpiece #106 (Not Stamped, Fleer Auction)

Story: When this popped on ebay last year I thought I was staring a major major PC addition in the eye based on the auction title. I opened it and of course it was the Fleer Auction version. Its the same as the real masterpiece minus the stamp and for 10 bucks I could not pass it up.

    10. 2001-2002 SP Authentic Rookie Authentics #RA-JF #d 0622/1275, 940/1275 - White Swatch (x2)

Story: This particular card is relatively plain but important because it was the very first Joseph Forte card I acquired. When I first started collecting again in August of 2003 I had mostly just base and inserts to trade. I traded off a decent sized Jordan collection I had(regret it to this day but it brought me to start a very fulfilling player collection so I digress) for a bunch of game used on Hobbyinsider. Included in this lot was this card. When I received the card I decided to look more into Forte as I had not really followed him since he was drafted. From that point on I embarked on a crazy road of player collecting and overpaying and I have loved every minute of it. Kinda odd how a now $1 game used sparked so much.

Congratulations on becoming the first Basketball Super Collector!

    Congrats!

Sadly, I pulled a Joseph Forte numbered out of 50 from Force shortly after it came out over six years ago, but I remember trading it not too long afterward on Beckett. I just looked up the card on Beckett, and it's indeed the Special Forces parallel! I feel bad about trading it to who-knows-who when I could've held onto it and traded it to a Forte supercollector.
