Forgotten bands = reminiscing about the good ol' days
Aikman_TheGreat mentioned the Toadies in another thread and it took me back to high school...so I thought I'd create a thread for us to drop names and reminisce about all those one/few hit wonders that fizzled out pretty quickly but were huge for a short time...and you might want to mention their "big hit" just in case others might not remember.
I had a lot from high school and college...off the top of my head:
Harvey Danger - loved Flagpole Sitter, didn't know anything else
Marcy Playground - likewise w/Sex and Candy
New Radicals - You Get What You Give was a great song, still love it
Len - If You Steal My Sunshine
Fuel - the first album, nothing after
Blind Melon - everybody knows No Rain, but Tones of Home was better
The Breeders - Loved Cannonball, still do
Mazzy Star - Fade Into You was our first dance at our wedding
Spacehog - In the Meantime
The Verve Pipe - Freshmen was popular, but Photograph was better
The Verve - Bittersweet Symphony...didn't like it at first, but it's an anthem
I could go on and on, but that should get us started...

Man Marcy Playground was Jams back in the day!! I loved that song Sex and Candy!
Another band that I haven't heard much about in a long while
Radiohead - "Creep" was the best but they had some others as well.
I think there last album was 6-7 years ago maybe???

The Pixies. I didn't really know of them then, but now that I have Rock Band I've been downloading their stuff and it is awesome

Radiohead's In Rainbows album came out in 2007. It's very good; I highly recommend it. Prior to that, their last album was Hail to the Thief in 2003.

Yeah Radiohead is still around, but Creep and the album or two right in that timeframe are the only ones that really got mainstream attention. They've got a huge cult following though.
And great call on the Gin Blossoms, they were really good back in the day

A few more I thought of:
Deee-Lite - Groove is in the Heart
Faith No More - Epic
The Cardigans - I loved Lovefool...that lead singer was all around hot
Refreshments - anybody listen to them? I loved Banditos, but they're probably best known for the King of the Hill theme song
Mad Season - Mike McCready from Pearl Jam, Barrett Martin from the Screaming Trees, and Layne Staley for AIC = one of the best side projects of all time
