in 1988-1989 season, the Lakers cruised through the playoffs winning all 11 games in reaching the Finals. The Pistons lost a few games en route to the Finals

Then, in the practices leading up to the Finals, Byron Scott tore his hamstring, and Magic strained his hamstring (Pat Riley was running severely tough practices back then). Scott missed the entire series. Magic played game 1, and missed the rest of the series.

Needless to say, the Pistons swept 4-0. I cried as I watched my Lakers play................
