OPC Update must have been one of the easiest products to design and configure as it truly replicates some of Topps previous efforts. 2001 Topps Traded comes immediately to mind with regards to the configuration and every pack includes a retro styled ’78-’79 variation from the original OPC update. Collectors have long wondered when Upper Deck would start producing a Chrome type card and OPC Update introduces us to their version, which they unimaginatively call Metal. In all honesty the cards do look and feel pretty cool though. Why wouldn’t they, their Chrome redux?

An entry level and kid friendly product for hockey minded youth, OPC Update packs out with 24 packs per box and 5 cards per pack. Priced to not break the bank, boxes can be found for $60 and packs for $2.49-$2.99. The aforementioned Metal cards drop at the rate of 2 per pack and includes all the key rookies; Justin Pogge, Steven Stamkos, Luke Schenn, Nathan Gerbe, Karl Alzner, Fabian Brunnstrom, Kyle Turris, Drew Doughty, Chris Stewart, Blake Wheeler, Mikkel Boedker, Derick Brassard, Ben Maxwell, and Kenndal McArdle.
