    Pelosi caught in lies

Pelosi accuses CIA of misleading her on use of waterboarding

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi accused CIA officials Thursday of misleading her in 2002 about the use of "enhanced interrogation techniques" such as waterboarding, which simulates drowning and has been described by critics as torture.

Pelosi reiterated an earlier claim that she was briefed on such techniques only once -- in September 2002 -- and that she was told at the time that the techniques were not being used.

A recently released Justice Department memo says that the CIA used waterboarding at least 83 times in August 2002 in the interrogation of Abu Zubaydah, a suspected al Qaeda leader imprisoned at U.S. facilities in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

Pelosi said that one month later, she was told only that the Justice Department had concluded that such techniques were legal, not that they were being used.
Has anybody been keeping up with this? First she said she had never been told about it. Then one of her former aides said that he had specifically told her about it. Then she says she was told only once, but wasn't told they were being used, claiming the CIA misled her. But a CIA spokesman showed documents and charts of when members of Congress were briefed and that they were informed of interrogation techniques being used. How many times is she going to change her story? I hope and pray that somehow this will lead to Mrs. Pelosi retiring...she alone is one of the biggest problems in America.

I was just watching this on CNN. Man she was tripping all over her tongue when directly asked about it.

You can tell that she is lying. She is not a good liar. Her expression and the way she was in front of the cameras, tells you that she is a liar

Going public with it would have been political suicide, even in her liberal district. She would not have been Speaker of the House, so she chose to keep her mouth shut to keep her seat and position in Congress. She also didn't have the authority to challenge what was going on...she was being briefed, not asked for her opinion. As a matter of national security, she was not allowed to reveal details about what she had been briefed on, so now she it trying to backtrack and cover her backside.
She needs to go, regardless of the circumstances surrounding whether or not she knew anything.

everyone in that circle of power during that time knew exactly what they were doing and how wrong it was, now they're either lying or trying to throw others under the bus to save themselves

she was the head of the committee. she absolutely had the right to do something about it if she had a problem with it at the time. no, she couldn't go to the NY post but there were a dozen ways she could have opposed the issue.

I agree, sounds like she had many ways to go about challenging. I'm not sure how it would have been political suicide. The majority of the U.S. probably would have been on the side of not torturing.

The best was when she was saying that since an aide told her about a meeting she was not involved in she was just "informed" and not "briefed".
