Twenty reasons why, when it comes to the playoffs, the NHL is better than the NBA:

1. The NHL playoffs are a real-life drama. The NBA playoffs are a soap opera: Coaches versus coaches, owners versus mothers, fans versus players, everybody versus the officials.

2. After the NBA suggested that Dallas owner Mark Cuban apologize to the mother of Denver forward Kenyon Martin – he walked by Martin’s mother and called the Nuggets “thugs,” adding “that includes your son” – Cuban expressed his regrets. On his blog.

3. The NHL’s most high-profile owner? The Penguins’ Mario Lemieux, a Hall-of-Fame player who overcame Hodgkin’s lymphoma and single-handedly saved the franchise from relocation.

4. Scottie Pippen, honored during the NBA’s 50th anniversary season as one of the league’s 50 Greatest Players, refused to leave the Bulls’ bench during a 1994 playoff game against the Knicks because his coach hadn’t diagrammed a play for him with the score tied and 1.8 seconds remaining. Four years previous, The Sitting Bull asked out of the seventh game of the Eastern Conference finals because he had a headache.
