NHL general managers wary of banning all hits to head

PITTSBURGH — Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Brian Burke says players should rely on their eyes and not a new rule to protect themselves from blows to the head.
"We feel that (NHL director of hockey operations) Colin Campbell does a good job of going after players with supplemental discipline when the hits are high," Burke said after the GM meetings at the Omni Hotel. "But we don't want an automatic penalty when a legal check results in contact with another player's head. There is some responsibility on a player to keep his head up."

i think if a player has his head low that his problem, its when people come up high and hit them in the head as its very to accidentally hit someone in the head when they arent ducked down..

As the one said quote said let them avoid hits with their eyes not be protected by rules.

what about the brashear headshot, where he came up from behind, behind the play. Since they are required to wear helmets now, the eyes in the back of Bett's head were covered. He was not penalized for the hit in the game and he effectively removed the Rangers top face off man and penalty killer from the series with a dirty elbow from behind.

Well read what Burke said. As he opened with that quote. Then he talking mostly about legal hits. Then you can ready what Healy and the 70 percent want.
p.s. Stuff like you mentioned would fall under the refs just doing their jobs. Of course that if they call them like they are suppose to lol.
