2008-09 OPC Update - How do you tell the difference??
I busted a few packs today and am trying to figure out what I have. I know what the base from 601-700 look like and also what the Retro's look like. However, are the ones from 701-800 are they to be a light brown or red? Also, is there a gold version? I compared ones that I got to the gold from set one and they look different, would I have metal cards? Also, metal x, when you move the card does it have multicolors in it from the natural light?
Any help on this or anything to add would help out.
Thanks.
Tony

The cards from 701-800 are just a different color. Nothing special, just a different look. There are no gold versions in OPC Update, but the Metal cards look similar to the gold versions from the first OPC set.
The metal x cards are refractors and will have either a rainbow look to them when held up in some light. There are also 2 other types of metal-x variations, and they look like they have tire marks or "x"s or mountains or whatever you want to call them on them. There is a version with just the plain rainbow look, a version with a very faint set of "x" markings, and a version with a set of very heavy or dark "x" markings, in total making 3 version of each Metal-X card. Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty sure thats how they came off the printer.
In total, it gets a bit ridiculous with all the parallel types. Regular Base, Retro, Gold, Blank Back, Metal, and 3 versions of Metal-X.
Hope that cleared things up

Pretty easy to tell the difference between Gold/Metal/Metal-X when you know how.
Metal is the easiest: Turn it from side to side, if it doesn't shine rainbow colours then you've got yourself a Metal...
Metal-X: Shines rainbow colours as does the O-Pee-Chee lettering, some have a textured mountain like backgrond too.
Gold: Shines rainbow colours, but the O-Pee-Chee lettering is plain white with no rainbow colours when turned side to side.
