Jun. 7--DETROIT -- Unlike Major League Baseball or the NBA, the NHL's postseason is the only one that doesn't follow the 2-3-2 format to settle a seven-game series.

Pending the outcome of Tuesday's Game 6 at Mellon Arena, it's quite possible that a seventh-game of the Stanley Cup finals could be back at Detroit's Joe Louis Arena on Friday night.

In 2003, current Red Wings coach Mike Babcock led the Anaheim Ducks to a Game 7 in the finals against the Devils at New Jersey. Logistically it was a nightmare as the team's had to make three cross-country trips in five days for the games.
