The Wild had the fewest picks in team history in the 2008 draft. Despite having just four picks, the Wild did a very good job with the selections it made. The Wild selected three defensemen before taking a left wing. All four players have a very good chance of playing in the NHL in the future.

Here is a breakdown of the Wild’s 2008 draft picks.

Tyler Cuma, taken in the first round, is a two-way defenseman. He has an offensive upside that could make him a top pairing defenseman. He is a very smart hockey player that moves the puck very well without risking his defensive duties. In training camp last season, he pushed the veteran defenseman for a roster spot. If he can prove in training camp this year he is ready for the NHL, he will be in a Wild sweater next season.
