After 15 years, McHale and Wolves part ways

MINNEAPOLIS -- Kevin McHale and the Minnesota Timberwolves have come to a mutual agreement that he will not return as coach next season.

A person with knowledge of the decision, speaking on condition of anonymity because an announcement had not been made, told The Associated Press on Wednesday that McHale and new boss David Kahn had decided that McHale's time with the Timberwolves was up.

This is the best news I have heard all day. I have always hated McHale.

McHale was not a bad coach, but was a bad GM. The Joe Smith fiasco hurt them for years, and he didn't draft very well when they did have picks. 15 years is a long time, and I think it's good he and the team are moving on now.

FINALLY!!!!!! Yes, the team was only 6 years old when he was hired, but he ruined the chances of them becoming anything great...just to put it into perspective, the Magic and the Wolves have been in the league the same amount of time...the Magic have been to 2 NBA Finals...the Wolves? 1 appearance in the Western Conference Finals, and 7 or 8 1st round exits. The time came a few years ago when he should've resigned...I guess it's better late than never....hopefully the Wolves will be headed in the right direction now...any improvement is a good improvement, and based on what happened the last 2 years, the only way they can go is up...

I feel the same way about MJ with the Bobcats. HOFer as a player, horrible in a suit.
Great basketball IQ on the court doesn't translate to great managing/coaching and vice versa.
