Dude my trun for what. I dont ever recall saying anywhere that the VA healtcare system was no good.
The VA also cares for around 24 million as opposed to 300 plus million.
Would you like me to provide you with notorized statements and phone numbers and addys of the People who I know come from Canada to the US to get healtcare becayse they dont want to wait forever to get a simple x-ray, or worse need a heart valve replaced and would take 2 months there when it took 2 days here.
I guess we can all believe all the hype that the system will be better.
100 percent fact that a new system will cost most of us less money per year, but I would rather pay a little more and get the quality care and not wait forever to get stuff done.
And here is a link for you about why son many Vets under VA care commite suicide,

I dont know just seems for every article you can post praising the system there is nother one that can bash the system. I guess it just depends on which side you want to take on it, We all know your side.

These are all ancedotal reports. These are ALL tertiary literature. My resources were primary literature or talking about it. You accused me of using an appeal to authority. Now you are using an appeal to emotion fallacy to say the whole system is not correct. As for vets getting denied coverage, this is because of two reasons. First, the governement has not voted to provide more funds for these people. I did say that the people would have to decide what to cover. I suggest you write your congressmen about these incidents to get them to change it. Is private insurance going to cover them? Second, the military is dishonorablely discharging vets who get violent or use drugs instead diagnosing them with PTSD. Once someone gets a dishonorable discharge, they no longer qualify for coverage.
Also, you still have not address the fact that private insurance is more expensive. Bring any data that they are not.
You did not address all of the things the VA outperforms private insurance on.
You have not addressed the fact that we spend the most money on healthcare in the world and have the lowest health of first world nations.
As for posting articles against single payer, there is no good data that we can sustain the current system or that it outperforms sinlge payer that I have found. I do not give people bad information. You give me a good scientific article stating that a private insurance system is more afforadable or sustainable. I want current primary literature, not opinions.
I would support private insurance if it worked.
As for quality of care, how do you define this statement? Depending on what you believe it is, you could be correct or incorrect.

I'm not going to throw a bunch of links to proof out here because everyone can find a source that "proves" their point. Everyone. So instead I use logic, which used to be compelling enough pre-internet.
In the words of Milton Friedman, "no one keeps their yard cleaner than the owner." Humans operate on incentives, money, and the desire to accumulate more. Some idiots call it greed, but more educated, less PC people call it survival. Free market capitalism provides an economic system around this basic human instinct to survive and progress. It's not only the best economic system, but the only system that makes sense.
If you dispute the above, it's a different conversation.
Apply that to healthcare. The only incentive for the Government to provide good, fulfilling healthcare is out of the goodness of their hearts. Their liveliness is not on the line like the patient, doctor, and insurance companies are. Forget the corruption that runs rampant for a moment. Actually, don't. How can you possibly WANT to turn your healthcare over to politicians in Washington????? A lot of them care but can't comprehend what is happening on the perverbial Main Street, while others really don't give a ****.
There is only one reason the Government should get involved. For those who have tried to, but simply cannot pay. And I mean exhaust every option. Sell your car, phone, TV, computer, etc. For some reason, those have become necessities to life. Allowing MORE Government into our lives is the complete opposite of what we should be doing. You prefer less freedom with less responsibility. I prefer more freedom with more responsibility. If the Government would stop demonizing the wealthy people in this country, I believe that you would see charities skyrocket. Haven't you seen rich people give back before? In my opinion, with more money in our pockets, we will take care of each other.
Large Governments have a 0% success rate in the world's history.

Im glad you posted this so i didnt have too... I was thinking about this thread last night (and yes... welcome to my brain and how it works) and realized we got way off topic. This is just another lie barack threw out there to get into the whitehouse. He criticized mccain all up and down for taxing healthcare...
If you really think government run anything is better than the private sector in my opinion you are mistaken. The only thing politicians know how to do is waste money and be inefficient. Have you heard of the road project in hawaii.... It was going to take something like 25K and several months to fix the roads.... citizens got together and fixed it for around a thousand dollars on a weekend...

Find a good source that proves your point. Primary literature that states private insurance is more effecient or afforable. As for the other guy's statement about all the Canadians coming to U.S. to get insurance, this is a confirmation bias. He only talks to Canadians that have come to America. He needs to interveiw more Canadians before he can say this statement. He needs to interveiw a wide amount of their public.

There is a bill in congress to tax private employer-based insurance for people as income which I do not support. Free healthcare would not be taxed, but you would have to pay a tax to get it.

Once again, you miss my point. I am not saying that single payer would be perfect. I never made that claim. I have stated that it is more effecient and cheaper than the private system.
