Canucks add Raycroft to the fold
By Dan Rosen - NHL.com Staff Writer
The Vancouver Canucks shored up their goaltending depth Monday by signing veteran Andrew Raycroft to serve as Roberto Luongo's backup. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Raycroft, 29, was 12-16 with a 3.14 goals-against average and a .892 save percentage for the Colorado Avalanche last season. He played in 31 games while Peter Budaj saw the majority of the action in net playing in 56 games.

I laughed when I saw this signing yesterday. If he can turn his game around, great. If not, then it will be him and Schneider rotating in net if Luongo needs a break or gets hurt.
On a hockey forum that I post on everyday, a bunch of guys are speculating that if Toronto doesn't land Jonas Gustavsson (the Swedish goaltender), they might try and work a trade with Vancouver sending Kaberle for a forward and Schneider. I guess time will tell, but it sounds realistic to me.

While I agree the raycroft signing doesn't fill me with happy....You have to admit for $500,000 he's not that bad of a p/u. If he manages to stand in front of a few shots, then he has earned his money. The thing i don't like is the fact that Schneider will be starting the year in the minors, I was really hoping he would play back up this year.

What the heck happened with this guy? I'm still scratching my head about him. Being from Boston, I was lucky enough to see him in is, er, "prime" I guess... but man, he's abysmal these days. It's kind of sad, actually.
