Question Stephen Davis Committing Career Suicide?

Davis now a Panther? Carolina is turning into a career graveyard just like Cinci is. Surprised Houston didn't go for him more than they did.

Here's the link to the John Clayton story : http://espn.go.com/nfl/columns/clayt...n/1522388.html

Who exactly are the Panthers paying that's killing them on cap though, cause they certainly don't have any superstars. They keep giving out big money to questionable people, like Az last year and now Davis. I like Davis a lot, but he has a serious injurt he still needs to come back from.

Davis is actually a pretty good back when he gets the carries he needs. Last year he ran for 820 yds on 207 carries(4.0 ypc). Break that down even further, he only averaged 12 carries per game based on a 16 game schedule. He needs 20-25 carries to be a big time back and with the lack of a Passing game in Carolina he will be the focal point of that offense. Something I am sure he will love.

Yes, he will love it, sort of. Soon enough defenses will remember Carolina CAN'T throw the ball and stack 9 men in the box. I don't care who you are, you're not going to have a successful season if you have to run against a 9 man front. He's still recovering from a severly seperated shoulder which happened late last football season. A lot of money to give a guy you haven't been able to work out yet.

it's a shame that sports has become totally a financial business.

Once upon a time, players played for the love of the game.

Now, for every Jerry Rice / Kobe Bryant, who spent the entire year devoted to bettering themselves for the upcoming year, you get the likes of crap like

    Shawn Kemp
    Vin Baker
    etc.

    Just sad!
