Hey, here's a "poor" guy taking a picture of Michelle Obama...at a soup kitchen...because he is poor...

I assure you that most "poor" people have cell phones. In other words, we have an extremely skewed viewed of what it means to be destitute in this country.

If a person has a cell phone then I do question the description of poor b/c those plans aren't cheap.

I live in a an area w/ a high population on public assistance, and while there might be a few exmples of the above, most are living in poverty. Either way I still think an abortion is the cheaper route b/c public aide programs avoid being strained for 18 years.

i have no idea why people consider a cell phone a luxury item...they were luxury items about 15 years ago, when nobody had them and they were outrageously expensive...cell phones are really cheap nowadays...in fact, it's cheaper for me to have a cell phone than to have a land line...and if you're homeless, you'd have no place for a land line anyway

i dont think anybody chooses to be homeless...there are people that work jobs and are still homeless...others are trying to find work, and you're not going to get a job if the employer can't contact you to tell you got the job or when to work...i would classify a cell phone as an absolute necessity, ESPECIALLY for a homeless person...unless of course they plan on staying homeless forever

i love this quote from an L.A. Times article displaying the photo you posted...

If this unidentified meal recipient is too poor to buy his own food, how does he afford a cellphone?

And if he is homeless, where do they send the cellphone bills?

if the guy is homeless, where is he going to store his food? in his refrigerator? i know people that have roofed shelter and still go to soup kitchens, because there is a warm meal waiting and rent just ate up their food money.

also you don't have to have a plan, and you don't have to have a bill mailed somewhere to have a cell phone...i can go down to the corner store right now and buy minutes for a cell phone...no plan, no contract, no bill

If you can't buy your own food, you shouldn't have a cell phone. I think that's pretty simple.

says who...you? well, im sorry, but i disagree...i dont think it's that simple at all...like i said, if you don't have a refrigerator, or a cupboard, or a stove, or a microwave, why would it make sense to grocery shop? Maybe you think if you can afford a cell phone, they should be able to afford breakfast at McDonald's, lunch at Subway, and dinner at Wendy's....even with dollar menus & 5 dollar foot longs, you're still spending over $10 every day

do you think people who aren't homeless should be able to go to food banks and soup kitchens? or should these only be reserved for the people who sleep under the bridge with newspapers as blankets? they are mostly staffed by volunteers and the food is donated by the community, so why does it matter who eats there? and as i've said before....there are homeless people who have jobs....nothing is ever as simple as you might think

Can you actually type out that you think that people should buy cell phones before food? I want to put that in my signature. That is a ridiculous view to have. I can't wait for the day for someone to hold out their hand to me while talking on their phone.

    edit:
If said homeless does have a phone, then he should be asking that person for help in his life.

E.T. was homeless. He lived in the woods and survived on Reeses Peices. he didnt have a phone. He had to borrow drew barrymores Phone to call and get a ride home. His broke little illegal alien *** had no job, no transportation, no phone, no nothing. He was a real Burden on society, but if he had just been given a cell phone in the beginning, it wouldnt have been a problem.

Can you prove that he bought that phone? Perhaps it is a trackfone given to him or a cell phone donated to him. I want to find the article that even proves hes homeless. is it so inconceivable that people might have heard Michelle Obama was going to be there so they just showed up to check it out.

In regards to the abortion being paid for by tax dollars, I do disagree with. There are plenty of Free Sexual Education Clinics and such out there that even give free contraceptives & condoms to men & women. She made the choice of not using either, we shouldn't foot the bill.

I have no clue but I bet there are thousands or more abortions every year, who knows how many we are/have already paid for.

Also, what about the women who don't learn from their mistakes? I've definitely heard of many woman who have multiple abortions, for those should we pay for each one?
