Boxes from Ebay can be as good as from the shop it all depends on the source. Dave and Adams card world sells boxes on Ebay so that is like buying from both in the same shot. I think the three keys to buying a good box off on Ebay are.
1. Make sure it is factory sealed (although people do know how to open them and then re-seal them)
2. Make sure the person you are dealing with has at least 500 + 99%-100% feedback
3. Read the description carefully and ask questions (Is it hobby or retial?, did the box come from a case?, does he sell tons of other boxes?, return policies? etc.
A good box Eaby dealer of boxes that I know of the top of my head is cheapwax I have pulled some nice cards from his stuff

I agree with mfweiland...
I can also say that I have had some nice luck with ebay boxes.
I have pulled a LeBron gold ref #/25 that sells for around $400 out of a $60 box and a MJ auto that sold for $800 out of a $120 box
