Atlanta Thrashers

This is the first game the Thrashers will have played since superstar Russian Ilya Kovalchuk has been named Captain of the Thrashers. Also, Zach Bogosian was brought back from his rehab assignment to rejoin the team, and new Thrasher Rich Peverley will be playing his first game in Atlanta.

Every hockey fan knows that every once in a while, there is one of those high scoring games. Well, this was certainly one of those.

The games first goal was scored on a Florida penalty shot by M. Frolik (FLA) at 9:50 for his 9th goal on the season, giving the Panthers the lead 1-0. A couple minutes later, C. For the first game of the second half of the hockey season, this was certainly upward looking for Thrashers fans!

The first period began with no scoring at all. Both teams had penalty kills which lasted deep into the first, with the period ending at a 0-0 tie.

It was another embarrassing skate for the Thrashers last night in Pittsburgh.

The game was sure to be tough, as the Lightning are led by Vincent Lecavalier and Matin St. Louis.
