i have many hobbies, one is collecting sports cards, the other is collecting autographs. in order for any hobby to grow said hobby needs a constant flow of new blood. a hobby can only survive if new people are always joining. actively getting involved, buying, selling and trading.
both of my beloved hobbies are in danger. too many scammers are ruining both hobbies, they are driving people away. more people are leaving the hobby than joining them. all too often a noob buys a sick patch card, a nice rookie card, a vintage card or some other kind of MOJO only to learn that the money spent for it went down the drain, they bought a fake. i have spoken to people with sick collections of fake patch cards or high value rookies only to discover later that THEIR ENTIRE COLLECTION IS WORTHLESS.
some of these people have left the building, and these are exactly the people you cannot afford to lose. they keep card values higher, but all the fakes are driving prices down. NO the economy is not to blame, some people will always have money to burn. just look on ebay or another hobby auction or even the trade or hobby shows.
if you collect sports cards and / or collect autographs of any kind i suggest you make regular visits to the following 2 websites below
it seems that ever week they are posting something new
