Hello everyone...
Hello from Austin everyone! I have just gotten back into collecting after a very, very long layoff. I collected baseball then, but now I am much more interested in football and perhaps a little basketball card collecting. I love Topps Chrome and was disappointed to see it going away after this year. I've read a lot of mixed thing on the Panini products so I'm trying to figure out whether to pick up one of those products or maybe work on previous Chrome sets. What would the comparable Panini set/s be to Topps Chrome?
Also, what are the most popular mid-range basketball products to look into?
I'm trying to get up to speed on how trading works around here so hopefully I can strike up some good deals with some of you.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to the discussions here. Thanks for reading!

pwaldo has the football question answered, As for the basketball product question, lets see if @movel23 or @rocksaysits420 can answer this better than I can

Welcome to the site, for basketball, prizm and select products are all similar to chrome. I think the 12-13 crusade had a insert set of chrome like cards ( think it was like 300 cards). If any other question, please ask away.

Hey there,
welcome to the site, like mentioned before the prizm would be the most comparable. It's a lot of fun to collect, their are prizm refractors just like there were chrome refractors, plus a whole lot of parallels to collect. If you are looking to trade have a look through my tradelist and see if there is anything you like.
Thanks
Alex

Welcome to the site, as others have said prizm and select are the closest to chrome but for a fun cheaper basketball break Donruss is a good start.
