I was robbed!
I got back three envelopes today, unfortunately the one post marked Johnson City, TN was ripped open with a sticker on the front stating it was "received in damaged condition". I talked to the local post office, which claimed they put the stamp on there and it was received that. After sitting on hold for 25 minutes with the USPS 1-800 #, finally there is an open investigation with me expecting a call within 2 business days. I don't even know who I sent it to there, due to me sending out so many TTMs. I'm so disappointed, anyone else have something like this happen?

I ordered a signed ball one time and I received the package open and without the ball, but this was from a seller and he gave me the money back without having to call USPS. But sorry that happened.

Sorry to hear about that. I've had envelopes come back to me shredded before but always with the stuff inside. The USPS can be like the TSA sometimes. I had over ten dollars worth of change stolen from one of my bags by a TSA handler and there is so much red tape it wasn't worth filing the complaint. I have heard it can be like that with the USPS. And for those wondering why I put the change in my checked bag - I am not walking through an airport scanner with that much change in my pockets and I didn't have a carry-on. Good luck getting resolution, I hope they are able to actually help you.

I once sent a letter with a blue sharpie and recieved it as a RTS with a ripped envelope that had to put in a Canada Post ziplock bag stating there was damage and the marker missing but the photos and letter were untouched. Not as bad as yours but my theory is the Post office opened the letter for security reasons.

You wouldn't feel wronged by this? I was just wondering if anyone else had shared an experience like this. If you truly feel that way, why even post a comment?
I take it we won't be trading anytime soon.

why assume you were robbed? the post office handles millions of articles of mail a day- some are bound to get damaged/destroyed. More likely than not, that is what happened. Postal employees who get caught tampering with the mail lose their jobs, their pensions, and are often prosecuted- I doubt someone would risk it for an envelope that they didnt even know what was inside it.
This holds with the old mantra though- "dont send anything you arent willing to lose"
Sorry it happened, but to assume theft is somewhat "jumping the gun" as it were
