Roger Clemens perjury trial begins today

This is really stupid and a waste of taxpayer money to go through this. The gov't has more pressing issues than to go on a crusade against ballplayers.Drug and smoke free trading.

I disagree. The issue is perjury. If witnesses are allowed to perjure themselves without consequences it taints the entire system of justice.

I agree with the perjury part however this was not for a murder, rape or any pressing issue. I personally couldn't care less weather he used steriods or lied about it. Fix the economy, end the wars, and provide affordable housing and healthcare. Once the gov't does that then they can go after ballplayers.

you can't really say that other issues aren't being addressed simply because this case is starting. I think if they want to set examples with celebrities then go for it. I don't know if the examples work in deterring people, but they've sure tried with guys like vick and burress.
I honestly don't care if they find clemens guilty or not either. I'm not sure why he didn't just come clean like guys like giambi and pettitte did. Would have been much better for him legally and in the public eye. I'd assume that if perjury charges are filed that he wasn;t wrongfully accused.

If we can "waste" taxpayer money on going after a President lying (crime) about something legal, then we can waste it going after another public figure who lied (crime) about illicit drug use (also a crime).

I think that the clemens, barry bonds as well clinton trials were all wastes of gov't time and money. There are more pressing issues besides weather ball players use steroids or if politicians cheat on their wives.
