The Church has withheld a lot of documents over the years. The gospels of James, Peter, Thomas, and Judas, the Q document...
If it doesn't fit into the story they want to promote, regardless of truth, they'll pretend it doesn't exist.

The "Gospel of Judas" was not written by Judas.... he was dead. They are gnostic texts written long after the death of all the apostles. The stories were judged to be not according to the teaching of the Church either historically or spiritually.

you need to do some research, the only biblical gospel that predates this one is a small fragment of john
they are labeled gnostic to try and discredit them, but when the council decided to call in one to question him and show him up, they found themselves out done and exiled him. the official reason was his ideas did not match theirs so it must not be correct

It is a gnostic text. This is not up for debate. Christ did not teach gnosticism. He taught that there was one way to salvation and that it was available to all. Do you not believe the Council of Nicea was guided by God's hand?

when someone can explain to me why every gnostic gospel makes the claim that its author was jesus' closest friend then i will start listening. The gospel of judas claims he was the closest follower, as does the gospel of thomas, as does the gospel of mary, as does the gospel of...

you guys are relating this to gnostics because the church has.
do some research, there were many christians that were not unified in the church and read many of these works and were not gnostic
what better way to legitimize your claim but to relate all else to something people were uncertain about
the gospel of thomas was found buried with a christian monk, who was not gnostic
were not all apostles the closest to jesus?
and some other bad news, most other gospels that made in into the NT were written for an apostle by someone else
and just because someone had the worst job doesn't make them the worst person
but i am not sold on this "gospel" yet, but intrigue by it
