The U.S IS a progressive thinking country!

The GOP would have you believe that most Americans are "traditional" and want to go back to the "Good ol' days".......WRONG!!!

    The U.S on Abortion

52% of Americans believe abortion should be LEGAL in all cases!

25% believe it should be LEGAL in certain cases!

Only 20% believe abortion should be fully illegal in all cases (this group is majorly Conservative Republican!)

    Americans on Gay Marriage:

Do you think same-sex couples should be allowed to get married and be recognized by the law as legal?

    YES 50% NO 48%

Now, this may seem like the country is divided, BUT if you look at that same poll question in 1996, this was the result: YES 27% NO 68%

Americans have FINALLY stated to wake up and see just how unjust it is to deny gays equal rights!

Americans and their support for Legalizing Marijuana:

    This says it ALL:

The GOP can try as hard as it can to regress this country to a simple and IGNORANT time, but it will NOT work!

We live in a time where information is spread around like wildfire and people are now more informed than ever about the issues, they can see how wrong it is to deny gays their rights, they can see that the drug war is a JOKE, and they can see that abortion is a choice that should remain legal!

I agree with some of your points. The church/gov't has no business telling 2 consenting adults that they cannot get married. Also I think adults should have the choice to smoke whatever they want. However if they commit a crime while under the influence the court should have no mercy on them and they should be punished as if they were sober when they committed the crime. Why because no one forced them to smoke or not to smoke. Also as far as abortion it should only be legal in case of rape, incest or if the mother's life is in danger. However since conservatives are against sex ed they should be the ones who finance welfare because the are so pro life, pro child and pro family.

I'm trying to understand how 500 to 800 people represent the entire country.

I've wondered that as well. Of course, one would have to poll over 300,000,000 people to do it your way, so...

as well as all of these polls above could be completely reversed depending on which areas of the U.S. are polled

Funny how these questions never come out with a poll that favours a conservative viewpoint...

Do you understand what a "Sample Size" is?

It's the way MOST polls are done, and they are usually pretty accurate.

But I bet if these polls were in YOUR favor you wouldn't question it, right?

as well as all of these polls above could be completely reversed depending on which areas of the U.S. are polled

That's why they DON'T poll people from the same area.

They ask these questions to people from across the country.

Again, that is how ALL polls are done.

BTW, Why do people accept the Presidential polls and not this poll?

The criteria is exactly the same, they ask 500-1000 people (a sample size) from across the country and come up with the results!

Funny how these questions never come out with a poll that favours a conservative viewpoint...

If you look at the past the overwhelming majority of Americans were AGAINST gay marriage and legalizing marijuana.

    That's what PROGRESS is.....CHANGE, ADVANCEMENT!

A progressive society will ALWAYS be preferable to a "Traditional" society!

If we were a "traditional" society then blacks would still be treated like garbage, women would be submissive to all men, and one can only imagine how the political spectrum would look like (Very scary) like the ones from theocratic nations.

The GOP and Conservatives alike live in a fantasy world, where everyday life is like one of those 50s black and white family shows where they show the perfect white christian family getting along with all the other perfect white christian families in their perfect white suburban neighborhood.
