Rachel Maddow Obliterates the Republican Lie that Obama has Blown Up the Deficit
You would never know it from the way the deficit peacocks are crowing against this administration, but the deficit is now more that two hundred billion dollars smaller than it was when President Obama first took office. We are currently witnessing the fastest deficit reduction in this country since the end of World War II. That alleged big spending liberal, Barack Obama, has already signed into law $2.4 trillion in deficit reduction measures over the last decade. And that total could be even higher except that the deficit peacocks on the other side of the aisle in Congress keep balking at reduction ideas like cap and trade, and the Dream Act, and closing tax loopholes. All of which would reduce the debt and the deficit, and all of which are policies that Republicans used to like, until President Barack Obama said that he liked them too, then they turned against their own ideas.Even the dreaded Obamacare was one of the biggest debt reduction proposals considered in Washington since the Clinton era, and Republicans hate that with the heat of a thousand suns. So some talk the talk, and others walk the walk.

I love it when LIBERALS See right though the GOP crap!
Point I make- If the GOP was really interested in spending cuts then everything in the entire budget needs to be on the table with the large cuts coming to federal spending and defense! we need cuts across the entire budget. To think that only one sided cuts will balance the budget is moronic at best ,

When has the Republican party ever matched its actions to its words?

I agree that everything needs to be on the table including defense and entitlements; however, touting this as some kind of wonderful accomplishment is spin of the greatest magnitude. Seriously.
Saying that making some changes so that over the next ten years we only add $10 trillion to the national debt instead of $12.4 trillion, a reduction of $2.4 trillion, is classic Washington speak. We're still going to have to borrow over $100 billion every month as we've done ever since President Obama took office.
Plus, ten year projections are notoriously bad since the CBO can only score the ten year projections following current law, which changes multiple times over a ten year period.
President Obama deficit reduction extraordinaire? Right!

Who's touting it as a great accomplishment.
All I see is proof that the Republicans will lie about anything and always be against Obama for no reason other than he's the first black...he's Obama.

Honest it isnt the whole truth. Look the whole picture. His first Year he used the bush Budget...then has a budget for 1 year. the next 2 years a GOP Congress will not pass anything Obama brings to the hill. The GOP and Speaker are a complete joke and have no intention on doing their job!

So it's your belief that the Federal Government would be spending less if the Democrats controlled the House of Representatives along with the Senate and White House? Or that they would be able to raise taxes to bring down the deficit?
