In an age where player safety is becoming an increasing buzz phrase, there are still fights in hockey. It’s a tradition of sorts. And on Wednesday night that tradition took a slightly scary turn when one player hit the ice face down and laid unconscious after a fight with an opposing player.

Twenty-six seconds into the game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottowa Senators, the Leafs’ Frazer McLaren and the Senators’ David Dziurzynski went fist-to-fist. It ended fairly quickly after McLaren landed a series of head shots that sent Dziurzynski to the ice and passed out momentarily.
