Post First look: 2012-13 Leaf Metal basketball cards

    http://www.beckett.com/news/2013/04/...ketball-cards/

Aiming to fill an apparent void in the “under-served basketball market,” Leaf Trading Cards unveiled 2012-13 Leaf Metal on Tuesday, and it’s a product it says has features which “all companies are sure to imitate once unveiled.”

The product will include one autograph and one insert card per pack and five packs per box when it arrives in May, featuring on-card autographs of stars from the past as well as a few from the present.

Among the signers will be Patrick Ewing, the former Knicks star and Hall of Famer who simply doesn’t like signing. He has signed jumbo patch cards for this one. Ewing has just 18 certified autographs made in the past with the most-recent cards coming in 2003-04 Upper Deck products.

I like the look of the cards, and remember the Leaf brand as being a good one, but the airbrushing is just annoying.

Kind of figured this would be happening. First Leaf managed to get Karl Malone who hasnt signed in forever and of course ROY Damian Lillard, and now they get Ewing to sign. And Upper Deck recently got Reggie Miller, Iverson and Karl Malone to sign for ATG.

And what do we get from the only company that can make cards in official NBA uniforms? Leonard Truck Robinson, Miles Plumlee and Bobby ™™™™™™. You say who? Yeah exactly a ton of no-names!

So many great high-value players and Panini cant get any of them to sign for them, their basketball division is absolutely lacking any effort on getting quality autographs for their products!

What a horrible product. Its as if they took Panini Crusade and managed to make it worse. And it looks like Ewing has done so little signing since he retired that he forgot how to sign his own name. My god can someone just make Leaf disappear. They should stick to making garbage walmart product and spare the hobby of their low end generic product. When are these companies going to learn that no matter who is signing your cards the cards still need to look mid or high end. As much money as these companies make and as much technology is available you would think card companies could come up with good looking designs for their products. This kind of crap along with Marquee, Crusade, and Contenders just don't cut it.
