Inside Innovation: Panini America Sneaks a Peek at 2012-13 Innovation Basketball

Frankly speaking, it takes a certain amount of conviction — and a great deal of confidence — to name a product “Innovation.” So when the Panini America NBA Product Development team announced plans earlier this year to produce 2012-13 Innovation Basketball, it raised a few eyebrows. After all, there’s a certain expectation — and no small amount of added pressure — that tends to piggyback such a name.

Simply put, a product named “Innovation” better darn well deliver some. The good news: Judging by the early glimpse into 2012-13 Innovation Basketball that we got earlier today, the innovation is there — and it’s innovation that you can see, feel and, ultimately, appreciate.

I love the gold ink on the gold parallel. It's basically UD Black but I like that twist. Don't know about that glass card though. A little creepy tbh.

I agree it looks like like UD black but the glass card look like stained glass.

I sure hope they put out less for 13-14 way to many products

Looks like UD Black silver/gold autos on that black surface. This set actually looks nice to me and I kinda like those stained glass looking cards. Actually, that design reminds me of Castlevania for NES for some reason.

On a side note, it's kinda weird they're still releasing 12'13 products. It seems so long ago, I'm really looking forward to the 13'14 season.
