More riots in Missouri? PROBABLY NOT

This story is gaining steam. Now of course we will ask what provoked this. But like the Michael Brown case the people of Missouri might jump the gun and protest. OH WAIT probably not because a white couple was attacked. But shouldn't they stand up for themselves as suggested by some. Guess we have to wait and see. This is the story I will list the site and credit the author so we know who wrote it and such. As a matter of fact here is a few

If you want a riot that bad, go start one. What's the big deal?

Or to put it a little differently, no. Because two white kids weren't sexually assaulted or beaten up by six black cops. Or shot to death by either the thugs or cops.

But maybe I'm wrong and the militia movement will pull their stakes up from Cliven Bundy's ranch and head on up (down? sideways?) to Missouri and display their love of open-carry there.........

Doubt it tho. White peoples is laaaaaaaaaaaa-zy.

Fair or not, there are lots of differences here for no riots and mass media coverage to result:

    1) Video makes it clear, so there's nothing ambiguous that people can twist in their favor. Ambiguity gives people license to manipulate things in whichever way they want, patience for reality be darned.

    2) There were no cops involved - just everyday folks - so there's no authority for people to rant against. People love to rant against authority.

    3) No deaths, so it's "not that bad" by comparison. People usually need to die for there to be a big reaction.

    4) Races reversed, which makes it uninteresting to the media. Oppressed minorities make more news.

    5) It's just Springfield rather than a suburb of St. Louis, MO, so not really a big enough surrounding area for big reactions to go on. I've been there many times, including last week (I live in Joplin), and it's just not comparable to bigger cities.

No, I'm pretty sure that the whole point of this thread is #4 and we're supposed to ignore all other factors; basically, this is supposed to be about race and only race.

Why everything comes down to race for some people is beyond me.

This makes a lot of sense. Great points

    This story is gaining steam.

Has it? I don't think any of the TV networks have even mentioned it.

That wasn't a jab, I genuinely meant it. If you want white people to riot, go start one.
If you want to start race baiting, take this case and compare it to a very different one. Like the one you compared this to.
If you want discussion, try a not confrontational starting point.

    So which do you want?
