I have no problem with the airstrikes, but this quote right here shows the true lack of military prowess in planning.

In addition, Saudi Arabia recently agreed to a training facility for moderate members of the Syrian opposition, whom the United States hopes to train, equip and send back to Syria to fight both Mr. Assad and Islamic State militants.

So we are going to train these guys, probably poorly, and then send them into Syria to fight both ISIS and Syrian troops at the same time. That will be a disaster and unfortunately, a massacre. Anybody with a figment of military knowledge knows a multi-front war can not be won. The focus needs to be on ISIS now and Syria after ISIS has been dealt with.

In addition, not informing Assad of the airstrikes could very well lead to ISIS and Syria forming a short-term truce so they can work together against the US and other Middle Eastern countries. This could very quickly turn into a major war, especially if Iran sees it as a chance to reignite a conflict with Iraq.

It really shows how stupid our leadership is. People can dog Bush all they want, but ISIS wouldn't even be an issue right now if Bush was in office. He would have went into Syria last year when those Chemical Weapons were used. Remember when Obama said he was and then chickened out? Oh ISIS is a direct result from Obama's lack of action last year.

Now he is going to compound the problem by letting someone else "deal with it."

That is the disclaimer factor. He doesn't want his legacy to have the asterisk of him leading us to war...apparently the asterisk of standing around and doing nothing is more appealing to him.

I swear I hadn't read this before posting...I must be psychic. A Syrian war plane was shot down over Israeli airspace. So no sooner are we doing airstrikes in Syria and they are taking liberties with neighboring country's airspace.

I sure we hope we have a plan versus trying to improve Obama's poll numbers.

Call me skeptical that we can selectively bomb our enemies into peace.

That's why Obama was utterly stupid when he tried to go to war with Assad. He is now basically forced to continue it even though it was a bad idea the first time. He's basically dug a ditch for himself and instead of getting out of it he just digs it deeper.

The solution is simple. We notify Assad that we are focusing on ISIS and not him and that he should stay out of it. Then we pummel ISIS into the ground. He sees what happens and now has strong motivation to change his policies or face the same fate. By fighting one we can send a message to the other.
