Majority of No ID Voters Are Black or Hispanic

I need some help here. I keep hearing over and over that a large portion of people who would be prevented from voting by voter ID laws are black or Hispanic. Even Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg's dissent over the SC upholding Texas' voter ID law makes the statement “a sharply disproportionate percentage of those voters [who may be prevented from voting for ID reasons] are African-American or Hispanic.”

Problem is, I can find no evidence that supports this constant claim by those who oppose voter ID laws. I have searched and searched and all I get is liberal website after liberal website trumpeting this same claim with no documentation or links to data to support it. I am coming to the conclusion that this is another one of those things that somebody made up and the libs hope that if they keep saying it enough that it will become accepted as fact.

The closest thing I can find is a phone poll performed by the Brennan Center for Justice. Problem is 1) that poll was conducted in 2006 so the data can't be considered current or valid after nearly a decade, and 2) they only polled 987 people which is hardly enough people to base a nationwide estimate on.

In addition, the Brennan Center only asked people if they had a valid government issued ID like a driver's license or military ID, but states who have voter ID laws also accept college IDs, passports, Concealed Handgun permits with a photo, election ID cards, citizenship certificates with photo, state issued ID cards, so even the questions they asked were not thorough enough to provide true data on who does and who does not have acceptable ID.

Any help here? Anyone have actual data presented from an unbiased source that supports this claim?

Yes you need ID to get any form of welfare, but that isn't my goal. What I am after is actual documentable data that this claim is accurate and not just liberal propaganda to fight voter ID laws. If I go around saying "Not having voter ID laws allows millions of fraudulent votes per year" someone will ask me to prove it. I am asking if there is actual proof other than an 8 year old poll of less than 1000 people that backs up their claim.

If Pelosi told me my fly was down I would contemplate the potential legitimacy of it before checking.

I agree. Based on pure numbers and the demographics of the poor we have in this country, logic dictates that there would be more whites without ID than blacks and Latinos combined. But I am using logic...
