Still seems way too soon for a mackinnon flashback. And his cards are still selling high not like it fell off completely, his young gun is still at the exact same range. I call shenanigans lol flashback should be an actually flashback. Retired, 90s, etc

They did the same thing with Carey in 09-10...going all the way back TWO seasons. LOL And I also want to say that the year that Koivu went to Anaheim they did one "flashing back" to the days of Montreal....the season before.

*Edit* Not only did they do it for Saku in 09-10, but also 11-12.

Another really slow year for the Devils in SPx. At least SPGU SS cards will keep me occupied.

Second set in a row with Parise Devil cards. Him leaving still stings us :/

Crosby, Stamkos, Toews, Kane, Price and Tavares is the last in 09/10 whose card values, and star have held, non Canadians Malkin also to an extent, and less so even Ovy's star has faded. May have missed a few, but less than 10 player's in a decade. Long gone is the 18 year old rookie who scores 50 and is a One man savior.
The Oilers know about that. The league is the most competitive in the world now, and the face of the game, Crosby, may not score 30 this year!

Agreed. Seems a little ridiculous to me.

Either we're looking at different checklists or one of us has a hard time reading.

Cards 139-180 are auto/jersey RC's and feature the likes of Ekblad, Gaudreau, Drouin, etc. There is 1 of them guaranteed per box with the chance of a second.

    SPX Foil Rookies Set Checklist

    30 cards

    101 Jordan Binnington - Blues
102 Landon Ferraro - Red Wings
    103 Sven Andrighetto - Canadiens
104 Anton Forsberg - Blue Jackets
    105 Shayne Gostisbehere - Flyers
    106 Troy Grosenick - Sharks
    107 William Karlsson - Ducks
108 Petter Granberg - Maple Leafs
    109 Markus Granlund - Flames
    110 Josh Jooris - Flames
111 Sam Carrick - Maple Leafs
    112 Mike Halmo - Islanders
    113 Scott Mayfield - Islanders
    114 Seth Helgeson - Devils
    115 Kevin Czuczman - Islanders

    116 Borna Rendulic - Avalanche
    117 Phillip Danault - Blackhawks
    118 Scott Darling - Blackhawks
    119 Colin Smith - Avalanche
    120 Kevin Hayes - Rangers
    121 Johan Sundstrom - Islanders
    122 Mike Zalewski - Canucks
    123 Victor Rask - Hurricanes
    124 Andrew Agozzino - Avalanche
    125 Andrey Makarov - Sabres
    126 Brody Sutter - Hurricanes
    127 Kristers Gudlevskis - Lightning
    128 Chris Wagner - Ducks
    129 Christian Folin - Wild
    130 Oscar Klefbom - Oilers

All the other rookie cards are #d jersey/auto cards, therefore, parallel/insert cards. These rookie "base" (I know, they are not technically "base", but they are not #d, so they will be as prolific as base.) cards are less-than-impressive. Why do ALL of the cards of Gaudreau, Ekblad, etc have to be short-printed? So only rich collectors can have a card of their favorite player? The kids will never see one.

That's how SPx, with the horrific exception of 13-14 when UD goofed up on so many things in SPx, has ALWAYS done its rookies going back to 2005-06.

I don't really know what the problem is here. Take a look through the history of SPx RC's in the Inventory and you'll readily see that they've always done a few little styles of cards based on availability of memorabilia, autographs, and "hobby love."

Cards 131 and up are all rookie cards. They are not inserts or parallels. They are sequentially numbered in line with the rest of the set, and tiered according to collectibility.

Also, it's SPx. If "the kids" save their pennies they'll easily be able to get their hands on a /249 Gaudreau or other star rookie.

For those "kids" who can't afford Johnny Hockey, just Wait a year! The hype will cool and he will be just another 50-60 pt guy. Nothing
wrong with that, but hardly hall of fame #'s...

On another note, wonder why Pastrnak is Auto only, Premiere has nice patch auto's so UD must have a jersey....
