Amazing 05/06 Cup Gold Rainbow Set for sale on the Bay

I don't know if it's a complete set ( I haven't checked) but it's got to be close if it isn't. He's also got multiples of a few players where it looks like he bought a second card to get the jersey numbered card. The majority of the cards are the player jersey number so it looks like the original plan was to get all jersey numbered cards, but I suspect that became impossible after player collectors snapped some up. This set would have taken many years to make and LOTS of effort and $$$.

He's got numerous very low numbered cards: Steen #/10, Phaneuf #/3, Ovechkin of course #/8, Seabrook #/7, Parise #/9, Wolski #/8, Schubert #/5, Coburn #/4, Gorges #/6, McClement #/9, BOTH Ballard #/2 cards (so he's killed the chance of anyone else wanting to build the set) and Keith #/2. Those look to be the cards with 10 or less made: 12 of them. The Ovie could be 4 colors (it's at least 3) and the Crosby is 3 colors with 5 breaks.

FYI: I don't know the seller so this isn't a sales pitch for his auction. I'm admiring his doggedness to create this set. I've made several 05/06 Cup RC sets but I tip my hat to this one! Imagine what the set would look like framed with all its gold coloring! It would be nice to find an appreciative new home so I hope he finds a buyer. If only I could win the lottery...

I see he's also got a complete set of 05/06 Cup rookie cards for sale and his asking price isn't all that bad ($40,000) given the 2-color Crosby, 3-color Ovie and very difficult to find 3-color Prucha/Montoya/Carter...to say nothing of the great patches on most of the other cards and since this is "the" modern-era set to own:

That is amazing! I wonder how many requests he'll end up getting for individual players from player collectors - I've already got a Gorges but that one is pretty minty that he has. Wonder if it's the one that sold a year or so ago.

Judging by my experience when selling sets on the Bay, I suspect he'll get LOTS of people asking if he'll sell individual cards and especially the Crosby and Ovechkin. I doubt he'll bite: to do so kills the set and makes all the remaining cards super difficult to sell. It's also hard to break up a "thing of beauty" after devoting countless hours to it.

That is just amazing. All of them are the last card in the production line, so #'d to their jersey.

Obviously a lot of those cards he had to win a bidding war to get the jersey #'d card since a lot of people are freaks about that. I am one of them lol but I wouldn't pay much of a premium just to have their jersey #.
