That right there is all im talking about. You said it well. Its an option thats nice to have should you NEED it. I am quite confident in my ability to defend myself. But when it comes to my family, I am not willing to take ANY CHANCES WHATSOEVER! Their life and safety is MUCH more important to me than my pride.
and you are the type of person I can respect. you deserve respect for feeling the need to protect them and yourself.
if I have insulted you, duane or anyone else, that was not my intention. my intention was to show that a gun is not the end all and if it is your only means of protection you are fooling yourself.
i also was trying to show that if you live a lifestyle that makes you feel the need to carry a gun, change your lifestyle.
if you live in an area that makes you feel the need to always carry a gun, then move.
if you shop somewhere that makes you feel the need to carry a gun, then shop somewhere else.
the best defense is choosing not to be in a situation that you need to defend yourself, but when that choice is not yours to make, use all you have to defend yourself, anything and everything goes.
and yes a good firearm would top the list of choices.

I dont feel like you were insulting at all.

Not in the least bit offended. I agree, the first defense is not being in a situation where you are in danger. Problem is there is no way to predict what is a situation of danger. I am sure the people in the Aurora movie theater felt they were in no danger. I am sure the people at Salon Meritage had no idea they were about to be faced with a deranged shooter. Avoiding bad situations and being prepared for a bad situation that you can not know exist is two different things.
