1980 U.S. hockey hero selling flag, gold medal, jersey for $5.7M

CHICAGO, July 30 (UPI) -- A key player involved in one of the most triumphant American sporting victories in history is selling memorabilia from that achievement -- for nearly $6 million.

Jim Craig, the goalie for the United States 1980 Olympic hockey team, is offering 19 different items in the package, called the "Jim Craig 'Miracle on Ice' Collection," auction house Lelands.com announced Wednesday.

I totally respect the fact that he is selling these pieces to benefit his family, but...

    1. I hope these pieces end up in a museum/HOF somewhere as these are priceless things in USA Hockey History.

    2. If I ever won a Gold Medal, I would be keeping that thing until the day I died, and then it could go into the ground with me. Jerseys, Pads, Flags, etc I might end up selling, but a Gold Medal would be something to keep forever
